i witnessed a cup game today in which the away team were left very frustrated by a decision or should i say non decision by the referee!
with fifteen minutes left the home team were winning 2 0 but under severe pressure when their right back did an excellent impression of shay given with an unreal save on the line. penalty given and players waited for the inevitable red card ...they are still waiting!!!! the ref ordered the kick to be taken without even talking to the player in question. the penalty was scored at which point the away teams captain asked for an explanation and was duly told by the ref to "get away from around him". it is incidents like this that leads to players becoming frustrated and games spilling over luckily this did not happen today. the fact that the ref was on first name terms from the start of the game did not bode well but in fairness he had a good game apart from this "decision" - not really a decision at all its an automatic red card the game ended 2 1 but went very close to going to extra time where the extra man would have been vital

Have to agree on the grounds of the fai rules ........straight red !!!!!!
