west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

Salthill Devon V Mervue Utd, Drom, Kick-off 7.45 p.m.

Salthill Devon host Mervue Utd at Drom tonight in a top of the table clash in Pool 3 of the Eircom Under 20 League with a 7.45 kick-off.

An important game for both sides as only the top two qualify from the group and with Derry City in third still well in contention neither side will want to lose this game.

A very good game is in prospect between two good fooballing sides as the last time they met in Mervue they served up a six goal thriller drawing 3-3.

Admission is free at Drom tonight with kick-off at 7.45 p.m.

Result - Salthill Devon 2 Mervue Utd 0

A own goal in the 5th minute by Paul Scally and late second goal from Brian Gaffney in the 87th minute secured all three vital points in this game for the home side.

Salthill are now top and Mervue must win in Derry on Saturday to maintain second spot.
