The news today was full of new ideas from the green party on how to save money , namly by installing a double flush button toilet ! Deadly ! In these recessionary times here is my tip for all soccer fans / players and City Dwellers !

(1) No need to waste 70c on the Sentinnel as a better coverage is available the day before free in the Galway First !

(2) No need for people in the City to buy the City Tribune anymore as its in the main about the country areas of the county and does a great ...

anyone know about the format for next year wil it be 3 small sections home and away or the same as last year

also will cois farraige be let back in considering they only fulfiled one fixture since xmas and mannions who have no pitch

I have to say well done and congratulations to the gang at the Galway First , not a game played yet and two full pages dedicated to the local soccer scene in yesterdays edition + two other pages on Gal utd . Ye have thrown down the gauntlet to the others !

The start has been positive now keep it going and I'm sure the ads will follow !

Do any of ye think a junior soccer reporting paper that would come out each monday with a match report team lineouts and a couple of pics from each game would do well?I think people would be willing to pay �1 for such coverage.I know galway first does the odd match but a complete paper dedicated to it would be better i think.any views?cheers

I see where Galway United have made the admission , to all parts of the ground �15 for the rest of the home games . Whats done is done , lets try get everyone up the dyke road for the last few premier games , I say it could be a while before we see sight of this division again , especially if the All Ireland league comes in .

Still , you never know if increased attendances encourage the players ,who haven't done that bad in a tough division .

If T.C can get the players back to the fold like Niall O Grady, Dec Mc Hugh and a good pre- season atmosphere going with a few friendlies , i firmly believe they will bounce back up to the 1st at the first time of asking!!!

Mind you my sources tell me Corrib will be a major threat to all!!!

My predictions for promotion being Corrib and Celtic..................

I believe if T.C enter a team as planned , will along with Moyne Villa who have also stated they will be entering a team , become the two favs in this div which ever section their in !!!

Message from secretary today that he received letter from galway saying that juvenile leagues to start on second week of august with registrations to be complete and in by 5th august...... please tell me this is a mistake.

I see by the fixtures , Hibs are going to be playing catch up from the start .....the fantastic NUIG are not down for any fixtures in the first three rounds of games posted . Why not ? They were in the Eircom U 21 league a few seasons ago and played throughout the summer !

As has been said by many , they are going to fuck up results in this league , they will not partake in the start nor field a proper side capable of ...

In my humble opinion i believe due to new Eircom set-up and lads leaving clubs because of this reason , its going to be a one horse race next season with Athenry being odds - on favourites!!!!!!!
