west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

Fair play to Moyne Villa , predominately a GAA area like Corofin, with both clubs doing extremely well this season , Corofin in Juv and now Moyne Villa in Junior football!!! Well done lads and if ye need any bric an brac go to the pound shop (pot luck) , owned by a sister of mine!!!! Laughing Laughing

PostSubject: Villa   Mon May 12, 2008 11:37 am

Cheers lads. There was a lot of celebrations in Galway last night I can assure ye of that!!
Dunmore yesterday had to be the worst team I've ever seen. Pure disgrace. Villa arrived in Dunmore at about 10:15am. Not a sign of any Dunmore lads till almost 11 o'clock. Then there was only about 5 of them. They were ringing around trying to get lads to play.Started with 9 players and brought 2 other lads on then with 5 mins gone. Could have been about 15-0 really to be honest. They have gone backeards in a big way. Can't believe they got enough points to stay up.
Villa will struggle in 1st division next year though.
No young lads coming through really and the squad isn't big enough to do well in the higher division. The good young players in Headford are committed to the GAA I'm afraid.

Ye have one or two good players at u15s this yr. Wesley and Sebastian to name two and i know theres a few more on that team who i couldnt name. But T.C u15s have folded with the main priority being GAA but thats a problem T.C caused for themselves so i know where your coming from..........

Dunmore not safe yet... Knocknacarra win over Athenry last night means they have at least forced a play off!

Theres one team list that should be well scrutinised , who ever passes the pitch could be called on to play if recent showings are any thing to go by !

Really?. Would'nt be surprised with that lot tbh!!. Since they don't have any well known Galway heads either they'd prob' get away with it!!

Heard Dunmore have been relegated to the 4th division for next season, because of continually using unregistered players all season, been late for games and not showing up at all.....

Word has it that St.Bernards are being given 'Club of the year' after thier promotion from div2 and their victory against Mervue in the Michael Byrne cup final. Congrats to the management and the players alike. Great effort put in by all involved.

Well deserved for a parish of its size to do so well with limited numbers like bigger towns. Ye must be doing something right and i have always maintained that there is more passion and togetherness/ allmost clanish like in the best sense of the term , in places like Abbeyknockmoy , Corofin , Headford ect more so than my own town of birth. I must add in , any sport and indeed in all walks of life to point out im not digging at a particular club.
Congrats and best wishes to all your teams for next season.......................I must add i was deeply saddened by the tragic news at the weekend , a beautiful unselfish girl, whose father i worked with in Eircom, my heart goes out to her family. R.I.P
