I have noticed quite a few of my friends who were attending fairly regular last year , are no longer tempted up the Dyke rd . The reason is definitly the price increase . They went along with the rest of the lads , not necessarily being die hard supporters , more for the crack and banter and a passing interest in the game itself . However since the increase in price they now meet us in the pub after the game , I wonder how many more people are doing this ? Have Galway United done any research into the dwindling attendances ? Very quick sums , 1,000 people in Terryland @ €20 = €20,000 . 1,500 in same park @ €15 = €22,500+ the old story a crowd breeds a crowd !
From a marketing point of view they made a mistake in the first place by such a large percentage increase , it should have been gradual ove a couple of seasons . Plus asking for €17 this year would not have caused the negative publicity that ensued !
