west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

Lenny , For the sake of Galway Utd i hope your right and it does improve , taking on and beating the big boys and eventually having a stadium big enough for your 15,000 mates without having to sit on laps ( i bagsie sitting on some fine birds lap, good for the back im told).
It all goes back to Noah and his five a side in the Ark , get the Juv and Junior working properly , instill the confidence in them and perhaps one day we will have a supply of home grown talent to bolster the GU squad!!!!

I have noticed quite a few of my friends who were attending fairly regular last year , are no longer tempted up the Dyke rd . The reason is definitly the price increase . They went along with the rest of the lads , not necessarily being die hard supporters , more for the crack and banter and a passing interest in the game itself . However since the increase in price they now meet us in the pub after the game , I wonder how many more people are doing this ? Have Galway United done any research into the dwindling attendances ? Very quick sums , 1,000 people in Terryland @ €20 = €20,000 . 1,500 in same park @ €15 = €22,500+ the old story a crowd breeds a crowd !
From a marketing point of view they made a mistake in the first place by such a large percentage increase , it should have been gradual ove a couple of seasons . Plus asking for €17 this year would not have caused the negative publicity that ensued !
