| Last nights game was one of the worst games of football that I have ever seen. One shot from Utd in the 1st half and it went out for a throw! The less said about the current squad of players donning the maroon shirt the better. The crowds are getting smaller each time and as I predicted 25 euro to watch that shite was too much. I wonder are the board still thinking we'll qualify for Europe. Nothing to lose now, give the young Galwegians in the squad their chance at least they will play with a bit of pride. |

Who bought the players?..... so what your saying is because it was'nt how they were been coached/set out that it was'nt TC's fault, sure he bought the whole lot of them bar Keane and Russell, we should have sacked him last season it's gone too far and the board have to take the blame for leaving the rot this long!! |

It's awful convienient how 99% of Irish support the teams occuping positions 1-4 in England, i'm sure everyone would stay faithful If United Or Liverpool got relegated. |
As regards GUFC i do not have to attend matches , just look at results and post mortems to know their going down this season and Jeff or no one else is going to save them , as he wont be in a position to buy 11 players !!! In case you hadent noticed Len i didnt bash my local team !!! On the contrary old chap it was the "negativety" a word your familiar with , of the so called people on the committee , i have bashed , who have treated people with the utmost contempt over the yrs and have lost many a good team as a result.........as has been well published on this site the last yr i was involved , at u13s , 4 cups , QF of sfai and raised in the region of 10,000 euro over two yrs !!! NOT BAD FOR SOMEONE WHO IN YOUR WORDS KNOWS SFA ABOUT FOOTBALL!!! As regards Man Utd , i have been a supporter for close on 35 yrs and yes when Dennis Laws back kick goal for Man City sent us down a division i stuck with them through thick and thin, so i guess i would be one of the 1%!!!! ..................

Lenny, a brother of mine has been a keen Leeds fan all his life and Dave Carton of Saw Doctors fame who i went to school with and lived beside is Leeds since our school days. But last week on the sports news on RTE they were on about people in the west setting up a fan base for all the Leeds fans here. But not being argumentative but to say that for this reason their ticket sales should be colossal has no bearing as their are several reasons why they can be supporters, but not travel to games , the main reason being money, work ect. ect. The problem i have is you reckon your not a supporter if you dont go to games????? |

| There is a difference between a fan and a supporter. A fan keeps an eye out for results, might watch the odd match (probably in the pub) that their team is playing in, and is disappointed momentarily if their team loose. A supporter makes every effort to go to as many games as possible. This might be one a year if they are living thousands of miles away, or forty a year if they live close to their team. They are gutted if their team looses, and on cloud nine for a few days if they win. There are certainly a lot of Leeds, Liverpool, Man Utd fans in the west of Ireland. Only a small minority of them can be classified as supporters. |

Yes there's at least 15,000 football fans in the city, with that kind of revenue we could get any player in the league along with some good players from abroad, does'nt take much to win this league, and to beat the likes of the Latvian Champions, Derry and Shels have came close with revenue from 3k fans!.
Unfortunetly people like your good self think your a great supporter by picking the best team going when you kids in a far away country and shouting at a T.V every week. If all fans we're like yourself there would'nt be football in ht amjority of places we'd only have one division in england, spain, germany, france and one or two other places.
Your not a football fan, what people like you do, is like a Galway man supporting Kerry in the G.A.A cause they were the best when he was a child, it's the exact same becuase it's not like you did'nt have a home town option. You already said you don't have to go you read the papers and know there crap well by that statement you'd do the same if United got relegated!!. I hope Man Utd fold like Leeds and fellas like yourself are shown up as the glory hunters ye really are!!
''Has been to games'' are'nt you great!!. |

| Buddy, you're criticism, which was valid after Monday night, was made void by last night's performance. Against a team whose budget is 3-4 times the size of Galway's, Utd bossed a game that only 1,000 people were lucky enough to see. I know they only drew, and once more made a few mistakes, but the crowd were never less than 100% behind them as they played to their potential. It was the first time since the new stand opened that the crowd actually got involved in the chanting, singing etc. Hopefully this will be the end of the Jekyll and Hyde shows the home fans have been getting for a while. Supporting LIVE football, even at this level, gives a buzz far better than any game watched on the box. The lows are made bearable by the highs(such as last night). Again, I know it was only a draw. Watch the highlights. I'd challenge anyone to pick out a better team goal than Galway's 2nd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmMFSPib7ooWatch in high quality..(click on it under the VIEWS= box) |

| Ya couldnt agree more,a great performance from the boys last nite. After watchin that match last nite its hard to understand how they cant put away the small teams with ease and even challenge the big boys. Someone should teach Rogers where his goal line is-lobbed easily for the second goal. Hopefully the team can consistantly play soccer like this and give us fans a reason to go to terryland. The ball actually stayed on the ground for most of the match. Keep playing like that and the fans will come!!! |

Yes thats right take my comments out of context.
Not even going to waste my time trying to argue with someone like yourself, you shout at your telly all you want at Man Utd. just remember when you turn that telly off that your participation in the event ends. While some day i'll get to toast MY hometown team winning something just like the MANCHESTER fans did recently!!.
Comment you made about me showed you up for the person you are IMO
As for Borats stat on the Leeds supporter club, there's supporter clubs for a number of teams been the first or even having one does'nt mean theres a massive(active) support here, after all even the United one prob' would'nt have too many active members and look at there support, i'd go more by how many tickets sell for the Leeds game in Terryland, which btw are still available, Sunderland were harder to get, suppose been in the Prem' had nothing to do with that?.... the majority of Irish football fans are glory hunters!! |

| Of course, I wouldnt expect 15,000 fans up in Terryland, but surely one fifth of that number can be persuaded to go up to a game every second week. If crowds of 3,000+ could be maintained then the club would have a solid base and money to attract better players etc. Its a vicious circle. "Won't go up cos they're shite" isn't going to make things better. Unless people start going up simply to support a football club, not to be entertained or impressed by standards, then it'll never improve. Bar stool fans in this town need to get up off their hole and experience some real football. |

And either would i expect 15,000 i was mearly stating that is around the number of ''football fans'' there are in Galway who consider themselves ''fans'' but however the VAST majority would'nt give GUFC a glance, however i pointed out that IF all fans in Galway got behind the team we'd walk the league and we'd become that first Irish team to make it into Europe proper, but that won't happen because everyone thinks there great fans supporting the big boys in England instead of there hometown teams like most football fans do around the world, not just a problem with us but all clubs in Ireland, if everyone got behind there local team then we'd have a strong domestic game to at least rival Scotland!!
Coll' sit on it.......plank!! |

Ya theres nothing wrong with those statements even revenue from 3/4k per game would entitle us to spend big, hwo do you expect us to compete with the big boys by dropping the prices, our ticket prices are in line with all the other full-time clubs, IF Tony Cousins had built the team he was meant to build this year then next year we would have went out and started purchasing the players needed to compete for the league instead he bought a number of poor players that have us fighing relegation. The pricing is'nt the problem it's the performances and league positioning, can't change your prices because you've hit a bad patch! |

I know what people say but are Galway people any differant then people from Dublin or Cork?, cause there fans are paying it although they see there team win often enough and see there team challenge for Europe, it's down to the performance, then if theres a high price it's added to the fans excuses not to go anymore!!. When/If we improve they WILL be back and paying €20 |
