I hate saying I told you so, but if they had listened to local people involved in running local clubs all their life and know what their talking about they would'nt be in the sad situtation they now find themselves in.I am a season ticket holder but never again .The players that are there now would find it hard to get a game on some of the B teams in the Galway league. They will be no loss to Galway and I can see either Salthill or Mervue replacing ,afterall both clubs have their own facilities and are currently building for the future by taking part in the Eircom league A championship.Galway utd your time is up.

Jay O'Shea and John Russell would find it hard to get a game for Medtronic or West Coast United ?

If the above happens and Galway United go out of soccer , I would hate to see it happen .It would be a disaster for soccer in Galway .Neither of the clubs left in Galway ( big two ) would be capable of "Uniting " the support required to compete in the financial nightmare that is now the league of Ireland .
The whole idea of United changing their name from Rovers way back , was to get the whole soccer community behind one strong club in the county , support it and "unite " the soccer community in Galway .
Different people have come and gone over the years , managerial and committee wise , not least players ! Some have been fantastic , some good and others poor , bit like a box of chocolates . But the one thing that has not changed since the very begining is the name GALWAY .This is our local league of Ireland club , it belongs to the people of Salthill ,Bohermore , Mervue , Tuam ,Arann , Carraroe etc etc and everyone in the county with a passing interest in the sport look for their results .
So if this the second largest county in Ireland , 3rd biggest city let our soccer club go out of business we should be ashamed and will get what we deserve !
Ideal formation going forward , like in rural areas where they cannot get goods they need at bulk buy prices , they form a co -operative .Galway United / Salthill Devon / Mervue United , together taking on the rest of the country !
i THINK THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD < UNLESS gALWAY uNITED GET A MEGA RICH SUGAR DADDY

I'll tell ya something hibs , you have come up with a great marketing idea in your post , and I bet you didn't even notice it !
Bit like Barcelona years ago , the local language traditions were outlawed so the all met at the Nou Camp and spoke in the Basque dialect and planned ,organised events etc .
Here Terryland could be a place for all the auld stocks , loveens and even shams to meet up ! A place in Galway for Galwegians to get together and have the crack , no foreigneers , no blow ins , no aliens , no murderers , no do gooders , no green partys' , and above all no dubs !
For stories to be told , changed , twisted and then be fact two days later ....... so lets all press hard for DA NEW CAMP to come about up in Terryland near "keatins "! Ok we'll let Ronan Coleman in ....but thats it !cheers

Saw an article in the Tribune where Leeson was playing the blame game. The full time set up was a huge mistake, and the unrealistic goals that were set by the board.Naturally the fans are no mugs and will not pay twenty five euro to watch a load of shite and Leeson is wondering why fans are staying away .Todays Irish Independent has an article on monies owed by the club to the organisers of the legends game.Again the real fans stayed away from this mickey mouse game and we were led to believe it was a huge success.Galway Utd are in serious trouble and it is not the supporters that are staying away who caused the problems but the guys who are running the club. Stay where you are now and dont go jumping off the ship.. that's too easy.If you're looking for some one to blame ..look in the mirror!
