I see where Galway United have made the admission , to all parts of the ground €15 for the rest of the home games . Whats done is done , lets try get everyone up the dyke road for the last few premier games , I say it could be a while before we see sight of this division again , especially if the All Ireland league comes in .
Still , you never know if increased attendances encourage the players ,who haven't done that bad in a tough division .
Through all the coming and goings ,I have to admire Jeff Kenna , his first posting as a manager , he has remained positive and upbeat . Bet he never bargained on being told a few months into his tenure , that he had to sell his team !

The damage was done when they set their targets too high, totally unrealistic.Who in their right mind could say that Utd would challenge the likes of Pats ,Bohs, Cork,Drogheda,Derry etc for the title or a place in Europe.Remember they were'nt even good enough to get promoted on the field of play. Then they went and priced themselves outside of the genuine fans reach.I said it all along that fans would stay away as they are not fools unlike some of the people running the club. For the record I have a season ticket .I bought it in a moment of madness!

Everything you say is true Bono , unrealistic targets set by non football people living in Tuxedo land ! I , like yourself and many others have stated same all year . But , now that the " ball" is over , lets all head back up to support the players and the likes of Ronan Coleman and the Tommy Shields of Terryland park .

Watched the game tonight with interest , but feel Galway gained a point and Sligo left two behind. Spirited effort from players like Russell, Flaherty who gave their all and a super goal from Murphy, albeit they had very few chances!!!
They shot themselves in the foot in defence which was poor , esp for the goal , a player allowed to take the ball down and pass to Almeida , all within 2 or 3 yrs of the goal. Shortly after were asleep for short corner which could have produced another goal. Also felt that foul on Mc Cullough was as bad as the sending off offence and also that Sligo players must be watching too much Italian football , leaving or drawing legs behind and going down far too easily for frees, esp obvious with action replay!!!
Dougherty and esp Almeida (Sligo)head and shoulders above remainder, whilst the pitch and stands looked well , a lot of changes since i was there last with u13s.
Going on Kennas interview , wouldnt be surprised to see him play a part in the Bray game???

vinny wears his heart on his sleave and plays wiv pride , but in my opinion he's simply not good enough .. works hard up der but no goals!! they need a striker who'll score least 10+ goals a season and that shud b achieved easily. i c barry morans back in town, mite go back like alan murph did !!

Agree on Vinny, works hard but not good enough for this level but if we go down he might be useful!!

Are you a regular at Terryland?, because if you attended games last year you would realise that Barry was one of our worst performers, he was given more then enough time aswell starting basically the first 12 games before Derek Glynn came on the scene with 4 goals in a week in June, Barry even missed TWO one on ones in Waterford and he was 10 yards clear of the last defender for the first, he did'nt even manage ONE goal in 20 games(15 starts) and rarely came close, would'nt look out of place in the Prem of junior!!....

Jazus mctoby , I agree with a lot you have said for once ! Couple of points : Barry Moran : he had by his own standards a poor season compared to the couple before that , I know for a fact that he got messed around a fair bit " mind games / head wrecking " by a part of the management there at the time , didnt help ! Being told 3/4 times he was in / he was out of the squads in the immediate days prior to games !
Vinny Flaherty , have to go on the side of all bar buddyb , he moves about a fair bit , but is not threatening enough as a striker and caused no concern for the Sligo defence , he gave them the ball too easy , which resulted in them being able to start far too many assaults on the home defence , I thought Jason Molloy might have been the better option .
The Galway United defence , not too bad , but looked 2/3 yards slower than the opposition , dare I say it even a tad unfit ?
John Russell , I had the privelage of coaching him for a while a number of years back , one of the nicest footballers ever to grace Terryland , put a strong minder in the middle of the park beside him , and then his creativity will be maximised ! Most underated player in the league .
Lets all keep going up , good entertainment , bar the fucking drummer !

Just thought he had a good game without threatening to score on the night , busy as a bee, but no one really threatened the Sligo Goal. On the other hand the coloured guy(quick)up front for Sligo, caused plenty of "brown" togs in the Galway defence!!! Would like to see man of the match Almeida (great sligo name) , in Galway colours.... Wink

Right there buddy , just as well he had an off day as bar bad shooting and a coupleof good saves he could have had 5/6 .

Great result last night , you never no , maybe the exodus has sparked a bit of life into the players that remain . They were the better team right through the game , and a competitive " spirit " missing for a long time in the club was back - maybe Jeff Kennas doing ! Any way next home game coming up , lets go up and support our local team cheers

Results have also gone well for United at the weekend :

Cobh 1 UCD 1
Sligo Rovers 4 Finn Harps 1

United are only three points from safety now, with fourteen games to go,
and more importantly, we are the form team of the four teams in the relegation zone.

Next Home Game :

Derry City, Terryland Park, Friday 25th July, 7.45pm KO.

Houdini may well be smiling on Galway Utd again this year . With news just filtering through that Cork City have just gone into examinership ! Should they be wound up , could mean them dropping a division , this happening to the best supported team in the league dosn't auger well for everyone else !

Your fairly close there hibs , support all over the country for sport is at an all time low eg yesterdays game St Pats v Sligo ,Pats in second only a few hundred at the game , Croker ; all Ireland semi final , just over a quarter full , no one on hill top two tiers not open!!!!!
Yet no one seems to be doing anything about it , it probably will get worse as they Playstation generation go into middle age , they don' play sport at all !
