west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

I said at start of season Athenry and i still believe they can win despite some losses lately!! Albeit Hibs have games in hand i would rather have points in the bag and the crucial game for both which in effect will be a six pointer is Athenry at home to Hibs!!!
The one irony this season is Blues have beaten both at home.........having a very good year!!!! Well done lads!!

hibs have alot of injuries at the moment,so that could hinder them a bit, there squad is not big enough 2 cope with such losses,if blues win there games in hand they'll be in the shake up,but prob not good enough 2 win it,salthill, west and rangers are all 2 inconsistent 2 make a challenge,so i think athenry will win it easily enough in the end.

I reckon Athenry should win it by a decent margin but hopefully Hibs put it up to them despite there injuries. Salthill or West would have to win the rest of their games which includes Athenry and Hibs to be in with a chance I think.

west are 2 inconsistent, definately have the players good enough 2 beat anyone in the league on there day, west have 6 games left if they win the 6,they would probably win it,as with hibs injuries are taken there toll as well, miko, tom caldwell and vinny o connor all out for the season,3 big players for west!hopefully we'll get a cup, michael byrne or connacht would be nice, here's hoping!

Flee , I don't think its all down to inconsistency , " freshness " is the word I would use . With the very poor quality of the junior leagues , I think their very early pre season has caught up on them ,and not required for the current state of the premier league . I 'd say you could get the required standard of fitness for this league in two weeks + a bit of 5 a side football . Love to see Willie manage a trophy winning side , he has great belief and faith in the lads .

borat, one of the reasons for the early pre season is that willie reckoned by been back before all the other premier teams, players might come down for a look and if they enjoyed it,they would stay, hence signing mats, john egan and simon murray, mike o malley was also down trainin early but signed for corrib rangers but he eventually did transfer to west before xmas, borat, there's method 2 the man's madness, the idea was 2 get new players and that was achieved, the 1st 6wks of pre season was all ball, the running only started after race week,so i think the team is still fresh enough, whether they are good enough remains 2 be seen but 1 things for sure west are improving every year.

Strange how the top echelons of soccer in Galway has not really being mentioned on this forum for months , more proof as borat said , its gone stale no real interest any more ? Change of format badly needed ! Signs are on , top players from this league no longer able to bridge the gap to League of Ireland standard . At a time when the county is producing some great underage sides , the junior standard is at an all time low ! Don't blame the refs , clubs or players , the league they are in needs vamping up to to make it harder to get in and then stay in !

i wasn't even going to mention this after the debacle of the evening kick off with kiltullagh but the galway fa have now gone and sent west to tuam for a 6.45 kick off 2moro night against blues, what a joke, west still have rangers to play at home and salthill in drom, both fixtures on the right side of town avoiding traffic etc...it takes at least a 30-45 minutes to get through claregalway at peak time and i'm sure the traffic all the way to tuam will be a nightmare, also champions league semi final is on telly,if they were goin to fix it at all why on not on the thurs night as is the norm for midweek premier games, there an absolute joke,if they had 1 brain in terryland between the lot of them they'd be twice as thick as they already are.

pUT IT IN WTITING AT THE START OF THE SEASON THAT YOU CANNOT PLAY EVENING FIXTURES , I MEAN THEY LET COLLEGE START AND FINISH WHEN THEY WANT SO WHY NOT YERSELVES .
TO THE GALWAY FA ; FOR THESE CRAZY EVENING GAMES WHY DRAW THE ABUSE ON YERESELVES , KEEP TRAVELLING BETWEEN CLUBS DOWN TO C 10 MILES AT THIS STAGE OF THE SEASON , COME ON ITS MEANT TO BE A SPORT TO BE ENJOYED BY ALL , NOT A HARDSHIP CHOICE BETWEEEN WORK AND SPORT . YE ARE ALSO CAUSING STRESS TO ALL MANAGERS , AS IF THEY HAVN'T ENOUGH AS IT IS .. Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Just wondering if any of the many West Utd men on the site can tell us if the change in management set up is true ? Heard that Stephen Lally is no longer there , Willie still there with the legendary Kevin Cassidy .............very late in the season for a change if its true .

cas was down training with west the last few weeks just 2 keep himself in shape, stephen was away then for a week doing his uefa license in waterford,so cas took the training, the players enjoyed it and he was asked to stay on by william and stephen to give them a dig out, thats what i've been told.

west beat dynamo blues tonite 4-2 in tuam with a simon murray hat trick and a john cotter goal, great win for west but there's no catching athenry who were 3-1 winners over mervue in mervue tonite, they only need 4 points from there remaining 3 games to retain the title.

Definitly manager of the decade Willie Grant , the lads were all stopped in Bothar Mor at 6 pm yesterday prior to game v blues , a quick phone call from Willie to Mill st and he got each of the lads a lift as passengers on cop motor bikes all the way to Tuam , will the likes of it ever be seen again .
Wouldn't mind they were only stopped to buy a load of trainers of de boyz in Finbars !
Bit of the aul Alex Ferguson in Paddy boy here as well , praising up Athenry " no catching athenry " yed swear West were playing them soon or something !!!!!!!

Changing the subject , will that trip in the garda van mean , when the lads get pulled at the weekend , they can say all right cops done my time during the week ?
