| With Galway United looking like they will be giving trials to some of the junior scene's finest, it looks like an all-locals policy is set to return to Terryland Park for the coming season. So, on current form, what is the best side that Galway United could hope to put out, on its current budget, were it to have the pick of all A championship sides, U20 sides and junior. 1.Ger Hanley 2.Stephen Cunningham 3.Seamus Conneely 4.Alan Keane 5.Paul Sinnott 6.Jonathan Keane 7.Cian McBrien 8.John Russell 9.Jason Molloy 10.Vinny Faherty 11.Iarflaith Davoren These are the Galway men who got some action last year. Who can add something to the mix? |

Good topic Tribesman , but I don't think it is an all local policy more a part time operation , is it not ? Where players will not be full time pros ie they will get a small amount of pay and will be entitled to work also , where eer the want and also be based outside Galway . Obvious additions to the above would be Alan Murphy , practically Galway based since his college says and works here , also Glynn from Claremorris .Young Hanley is a great prospect for the future , but I think his career could be irrepareably damaged by being thrown in to LOI football at his age . There are three to four more players ( not many tankfully ) who would be way out of there depth in league of Ireland . So while I think we have potentially the best manager in the league + assistant , best ground , best groundsman , best supporters , a fair few of last year outsiders are required to hopfully make a good go of ot in the league .I would hope to finish higher than 5th . Most other clubs are worse off than us , only two full time outfits left Bohs and I think Cork maybe Derry as well . One thing though , lets all get behind the team from the start , we rightly bitched last year about prices etc . Now lets promote the club , everyone try get their entire club up for the first game ! Plus us all off the forum !!! Lets not forget the crack in Terryland can be second to none , even when we used to get hammered , the slagging was something else ! |

| One obvious addition from the local scene would have to be Dave Goldbey of Mervue ,never in my opinion given a fair chance to prove himself in Terryland , always a sub never given a full 90 , also Nigel Keady and Eric Lavine if we are going all local experienced and Eric has been in Galway so long he is nearly white - no racist here as I have a few pints with him now and again and I would say this to his face , where I would get a suitable reply . Also whats Colin Hawkins , Ryan Casey and could Stephen O 'Donnell be tempted home , job + a few bob ? |

| Glynn has definitely signed for Longford. Hawkins is playing for Brighton, while I'm sure Stephen O'Donnell will be looking for a route back across the water if Bohs dont keep a hold of him. One of the best midfielders in the league last year. I didn't put Murphy in as he's from Mayo.......my idea was a native Galway XI. I know Galway United will bring in lads part-time from around the country if they can but this was just to see realistically how strong football is in Galway at the minute. |

Liam McKenna is another player I havn't heard about lately , did figure at some stage in the past but not heard anything about him latly .In all fairness to Galway United they have the best of whats available . Nothing in the junior ranks up to first team performance or commitment required for LoI , Matts O Malley is a decent junior player that should have set his targets higher a while back , too late now sadly . |
