west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

PostSubject: CORRIB RANGERS 1 WEST UNITED 6   Wed Sep 03, 2008 11:39 am

Went to the Corrib Rangers v West game in westside last nite,I don't know were West that good or Rangers that bad, everytime West went forward they looked like scoring, they played some brilliant football, the game was over as a contest after a half hour as West were 3 up against a strong breeze, goals from Murray,Mats O Malley and Gary Fitzgerald, the rangers keeper kept the score down with some outstanding saves and West were also guilty of some very poor finishing,2nd half continued like the 1st all one way traffic,West went 5 up with further goals from Rabbitte and Mats O Malley,West then made a few changes in the last 25 minutes and the game petered out,Gareth Gorman missed a peno to make it 6 before Rangers pulled a late goal back with a well taken Mark Joyce goal,Jason curran rounded off the scoring for West with a few minutes left with a very well taken goal.

Talking to couple west players they reckon they have played three of worst teams in league salthill, rangers and colga and their under no illusions of their top of table position haven't had same team or panel twice yet and reckon they could get better. What has happened to rangers? and how didn't hibs beat colga by more in bohermore?

Oranmore went 1 up with a penalty just before half time. Mervue equalised from a long throw in with about 5 minutes to go.

You can not score directly from a throw in. A throw in is similar to an indirect free kick.
