The only man for the job is former manager John Clarke ! NUI,G are no longerinthe top 8 rated teams in Collingwood rankings , when he was there they were always there or there abouts in collegiate terms . Same time he reached European universities final , won and competed in the Connacht Senior league competitions , Eircom u 21 while at the same time their second team competed in the D L premier league . His first year teams reached 4/5 Harding cup finals in a row !
Sadly for the players , he wil not be asked back , as he ran the club his way , the winning way and players always put first . He upset one person in particular up there , who has never come within an asses roar of putting the commitment into the club that "clarkee " put in !
Ask any player from Clarkees era , what they thought of his training methods , management !

Tommy French is the new manager of NUI, G fc . His scouting network will be unveiled as always in College at trials in Sept . "Serious challenge" on title , you got to be joking , college will be about 5 games behind everyone else before they start in a division they should not be in at all , remember they finished 6 points behind the second placed team in the first division last season ! This late start will be followed by a cessation of competitive football about March 1st , after Collingwood and prior to exams . It will be a great achievement by college to stay in the premier division .
As for Tommy his forte and profession is in personnel fitness , not proven in soccer in Galway , originally from Donegal .... handy enough player .

Tom French used to train the Galway united U-21 side 2 years ago under Des Crawley. Very good brain for the game and any team under him will be unbelievably fit..I think he also did a stent training the first team at united after he left our u-21 side. Not sure has he done much managing though!!

THEY WILL DO VERY WELL THIS YEAR SO , EVERYONE KNOWS THE TEAMS IN THE FIRST DIVISION NEVER DRANK BEFORE GAMES , THAT WAS A MAJOR DISADVANTAGE TO COLLEGE .
WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE THIS YEAR THAT THE GAMES ARE ON A SATURDAY , GIVE THE LADS TIME TO RECOUVER AFTER THE TRADITIONAL THURS AND NEWLY DEEMED COLLEGE NITE OUT WEDNESDAY ! GOOD LIE IN FRIDAY WILL BE GREAT BOOST TO THEIR SYSTEM !
HOLD ON THOUGH , WERE THEY NOT PLAYING SUNDAYS LAST YEAR ? TWO NIGHTS AFTER THE COLLEGE NITES ?
What had the manager and coachs to say , when the players let them know they were not fit ? Prob ...."oh so thats why we were shite in our hosted Collingwood "
