I would like to congratulate Salthill Devon on winning the under 13 (legal )league , they won it deservadly so as they were they top team that did not play a man on the team well done Devon and also well done to the other 7 legal teams in the division !
If any one on the forum wants to see what mixed football looks like ie adult and kids on the same ...

west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

See at Renmore Ladies,we got a sponsor to get our match kit,we put our money together for our tracksuits,we do our fundraising every year and along with registration,we give the club a nice amount of money every year. I'm not looking for a well done,if you play with a club,you must do these things. Have Bohs Ladies done any of these things? If they haven't,maybe that's why Bohs Ladies 2009 are RIP!!

Well put , so they will be a good bet for the First div league this year , seen as Mervue were not in the league last year , they will have to enter the bottom rung I presume ? One thing for sure , they will have to put in way more money to Mervue than they will ever get out of ! How are they fixed fror selling lotto tickets about the town on a sunday nite and the bingo sessions in Salthill ? So this is now their fourth or fifth reinvention , Oldcastle , Hibs , Knocknacarra Bohs , Bohs , Mervue watch out Renmore ye are next !!!!!ha ha

New club this season is a West ladies team , load of the girls that drink in Monroes , say them training last satuday in the Swamp , about 20 down .Few ex gaa players there , a little bit raw on the football skills but very physical and rough ! Should liven things up .

Why is the membership of the league team wise and player wise now less than 10 / 15 years ago ? Every where else it is growing ! If noticeing Galway ladies fotball is noticing two teams it is a joke and in serious decline !
dt has called a meeting for next monday night in Crowes bar , I hope every person , club interested in the future of the league attends and gives thee ideas agendas etc . We may have moved club...again, but we will do what it takes to survive in this dog eat dog world. And there may be fewer clubs now than 15 years ago, but the teams that are still going are so much stronger. Bohs Ladies Aka Mervue Utd have been around since the begining. And leaving Bohs mens club isn't the end and nothing against that passionate mens club its just about surviving & trying not to be one of the ladies teams to vanish..... so there Razz

Al Capone , take your points but surely your "teams so much stronger than 15 years ago " is ludacrious if they game is not developing members wise .Carry this on and in 5 years time by the above equation there will only be two clubs , what will ye do then ? Play each other home and away twice and have maybe two cup games ??? I have said it before , and will now hone it , elitism has taken hold of a lot of people in ladies soccer and thye are no longer interested in the local develpment of the game . I can see why ladies gaelic football is bucking the gaa trend in Galway City and is actually the dominant ladies field sport . Shame on all who have let this happen , ye are killing a great sport slowly but surely .

We support, love and Honour ladies soccer in Galway Like a Star @ heaven

and we do not think we are better than any other club (althouh the records speak for themselves lol!

) we welcome any grade of player down to train and play.

As for moving clubs, theres always a decent reason like the Bushes in millars lane or Real Toilets in Mervue.... Mervue Membership costs more than any other ladies club in Galway... so as for high maintenance... no i think not. bom

both salthill and mervue have a great under age structure in place, by having a strong senior set up in place there is something for the younger players to aspire to!! Bohs had no girls underage structure and in a few years would have died out because of no young players coming through!!!

there is too much competition for players on that side of the city with salthill, how can no toilets and a container compete with state of the art dressing rooms, top class astro turf pitches and well maintained grass pitches!!! how can u expect young girls to come up to training and in turn tell them to go into a bush to go pee!!!!

the move was to keep this team together and to develop it for the future!!!!!

What a load of absolute crap , the bushes in Millars lane , there are loads of juvenile players out there who would love to have a facility like Millars lane to play eg Colga , Corrib Celtic etc . It is provided by the city of Galway to Bohs ( they don't own it and you critisize it ) . But in your reply , the real reason you leave , better toilet facilities , my advice to you al , stay with Mervue until Oranmore develope a room with a person inside to lace up your boots , then move and first thing you do with the newly laced up boots is go , stand in front of their diamonte encrusted mirror and give yourself one huge kick in the arse , make sure you do it three or four times , that way you have a good chance of hitting it maybe once Embarassed

Did ye not leave both clubs with debts to pay. Rumour has it there was thousands worth of gear never paid for by ladies or never seen by the mens side. It's all about money. Truth is them girls never took part in any selling of anything in the club yet they always wanted more. sadly i have neither played for salthill or bohs and never likely to as im a hibs man through and through. Amazing things ya hear when ya go for a few pints about goings on at other clubs. I have good time for a good few lads at Bohs who i would talk to regularly on a night out. Always willing to give info with a few pints in them Razz

As for Kara for me she is the most talented gifted player i have seen play in the galway league and i hope her move works out well.

The discussion in reference to this issue seems to have taken on a life of its own so for what it's worth i would like to add my tuppence worth:!:
It seems that Bohs Mervue, Castle or whoever seem to provoke people for whatever reason, in reference to the replies regarding the move to Mervue is it not true that Bohs were only too glad to see the disbanding of that ladies clubs only less thatn two years ago and poach any decent talent that they had, in order to make themselves stronger which i think refutes the suggestion that they are in it for the greater good:?:

Now, they are heading back to that same club under the guise of giving Mervue the senior ladies structure for their underage players something to aspire to and for the want of better facilities:affraid: How can they possible have these aspirations when serious questions have to be raise how long will they stay ( Past history seems to suggest not very long)

Another question that springs to mind last season Bohs reached the final of the Intermediate Cup and as a losing finalist are now a senior club, will "Mervue" now be entering the senior cup or dropping back to Intermediate, surely a name change would not allow such a demotio

Glebe , this is utter bull , last time I looked knocknacarra have no ladies or girls teams , at some stage a number of years ago they upped and headed off to bohs , remember . Population wise , knocknacarra / barna / westside area has a young growing population .Mervue on the other hand in the last census was still on the decrease with an ageing population .Just look at where the payers at underage boys levels are from .
So ye cant attract players from an area where there are thousands of kids , yea ? so what chance have ye in an area with very few kids and right nextdoor to a decent ladies team Renmore . I would put it to you , ye didn't try half hard enough , you also insult one of the oldest clubs in Galway , Bohs , at a time when things arn't going as well as they used to but they keep on trying . By going to Mervue ye become the bottom rung in the food chain , and will be kept firmly in hand . So anyway , don't get me wrong I would love to see girls teams everywhere , but this yo yo ing between clubs is not what clubs or teams are about , you stay , work , develope , win things loose , bitch fight etc but at the end of the day you know your club and you know its history . Ye are like an American football franchise up town at a words notice . Sure how could ye develope an underage , lets say ye had a bunch of girls in Millars lane last year u 12 , what do ye say to them , hang on were moving across the town to Mervue ???? No , tell the truth ye did not try or put in enough effort to organise an underage ,in the same style as the boys underage was quickly discarded last year .
It's not easy , and that is what ye want , the easy life !

Mervue ladies have not even qualified to play in the intermediate cup , so bottom rung , they actually , if things are done right be in the local b league . Bohs officially , and I have heard will be taking their rightful place in the senior ranks , they have at last secured a good sponsor who is willing to put €10,000 into the club 50 / 50 mens , womens and I see Bohs have attracted loads of girls from the Knocknacarra area , fair play to them .
