My housemate plays on a soccer team here in Limerick. Also a new team. So, curiosity brewing, I decided to take a look into the Limerick ladies set up. I'm impressed. Starts late April and finished by mid - September with loads of competitions and games. 14 teams, seeing Lifford on the list, this is also including teams in Clare.

They have divisions down to U 12.

My impression is that there is no mucking about.

Galway soccer is so far behind.

marydrummer , for one so young you are very observant and 95% correct which is a close to perfect s you will get in Galway .
The 5% wrong is your final point Galway Soccer is so far behind . I would clarify that by saying the running of Galway Soccer is so far behind ........its actully in the 18th century . Twenty years ago I went to my first Galway fa meeting in the Atlanta hotel in Dominick street , at the time every club in Galway were giving out about the way it was run , four months ago I was at the agm very few changes in faces at the top table , and low and behold every club in Galway giving out .
As part of the Galway District league ladies soccer will not grow , will not be organised and will always be controversial . Unless ladies soccer in Galway organise a complete committee of their own to organise games , underage leagues etc it will stay much the same as it is , a few games to keep ye quiet ! Sad but true .
Organise a agm for beginning of November , select a Chairwoman , sec treas and assistants plus a rep from each club current and intending including all underage ( maybe a manager from every team also ) .
After agm at first of yer( fortnightly) meetings , organise each division , age group etc and put two committee persons to co ordinate each division and before xmas have all the probs sorted and fixtures in place . If ye had the money raised maybe operate the first year by the outgoing admin in the Galway fa John Joyce very good at running week to week fixtures .
Re the likes of Lifford in Ennis Co Clare , one of the main guys behind is a former Galwegian now based down there . My niece played all the way up with them from u 12 where they even had b teams .They have been consistently over the past fifteen + years one of the biggest suppliers of underage players to Irish squads . They are organised , as you say no messing . Can be done here too with the right people running it , and an equally forcefull bunch inthe background keeping them on their toes .

You are probably right, actually no, you are right.
If I wasn't so busy with college, I'd try and get people together and stuff but who do you talk to? Where do you start? How do you get the so called "big boy(s)" running the league, shambolically might I add, to get their head out of their arse and to cop the hell on when all they have tasted is sweet victory?!
Evil or Very Mad

I have spent 2+ hours in a roasting hot recording studio listening to drums thump over and over, I'm in a bit of a foul mood and it feels good to rant!
