Great news filtering through that along with the 7 existing teams from this season , new additions like Tuam Celtic , Kinvara , word has it Loughrea, Colga coming through over next year or two , possibly Athenry after having a discussion with 2 clubmen recently will definitely see Ladies Football grow in Galway next few yrs as it has now become the fastest growing sport in the world.
Prediction that in two years we will have 2 divisions with plenty of teams making the league a lot more interesting. I believe that this forum has contributed in no small way to its growing popularity. cheers

That's the greatest post I've read in a long while! We're trend-setters Buddy!

Cregmore have an U-11 team I think and held a 3 day girls camp at the end of the summer and had 25 girls show for it. With clubs doing this kind of thing, it can only mean good things for Ladies football in Galway.

I can name 4 girls who played with me in Cregmore and I could see them on the Athenry team if they get it together. Aoife Burke being the girl to watch, she's just a magnet to the goal!

Salthill, Mervue, Renmore, Oughterard, Moyne Villa and Colga competed in last years U12 league, while Cregmore and Oranmore had teams in the recent girls U11 Galway Blitz. I would expect some strong teams coming on board over the next few years. It's just a pity they're coming into a shambles of a league jocolor

Now thats not true we had a meeting to discuss this and clubs would not vote to leave the FA, they wanted to give them another chance!!!!! Fat lot of good that done. its about time that we stood up to the organisation, form our own league and two fingers to the FA. Its time to stand up and be counted, no point moaning here, lets get some positive action. Exclamation

Wanna bet ....... nothing will happen .....as ye all know ye !

You state - standing up to the league . Remember ye joined the league not the fa joining ye .
Ye have also been carried financialy by the fa over the last couple of years . Last years a/cs showed ladies soccer contributed €2,900 to the league and received €49, + back . Not bad going . I know that will never be allowed happen again .
So what sre the plans for this breakaway ?
Just to realistically let ye know where ye stand in the bigger picture in Galway fa vision . You will have seen all the posts on here re fourth division a +b teams giving out about their lack of games and not given their fair crack of the whip . Well ye are another mile further dsown the rope . So form yer own league and do it now , not after the moaning starts after the first round of games .

Im sitting on the fence here re starting own league but this year ye got two rounds of games and cup comp not finishing untill late sept . Whats wrong with that . As far as i can see its not the FA that are are fault here but the whole "show" being run by the one person who happens to be a manager of one of the clubs . Not good , instead of complaining about FA go form a 3 or 5 man or woman committee to run your league and and have the power to outvote this one person . Leaving the umbrella of the FA could be a recipie for disaster as your on your own when things go pear shaped ................ would their be a hint of jealousy here re Salthill who are by far the best team in the league and realistically too good for the remainder , but where else can they go???????
With new teams entering next season , ye could have up to 10 teams involved in one div or two separate divisions , future looks rosy for ladies football. Stop blaming FA and look closer to home .................disgruntled mate, what a suitable choice of names!!!!!!!!!! Laughing
