We are playing Cloonfad tomorrow evening. I think it's their first match. Everyone who turns up is going to get a game on our side.

Hoping to make it 2 in a row!

, Why wouldnt ye make it two in a row - sure if everyone that shows up gets a game "on yere side " ye have to win - no opposition . I have a niece playing on the side who loves it , long overdue in Tuam . She said most of it is down to yourself Mary well done , she also stated that the two lads involved Jimmy and Danny are absolute gentlemen who love the game and enjoy a laugh at the same time , well done to all involved .
Have ye a tough new striker down there in Tuam Glynnis Sourpuss ???? heard West Ham were trying to sign her !cheers cheers

Haha, missing a few first teamers due to camogie and weddings (so many weddings!) but that's no trouble, other girls will get a game and match experience is vital for everyone to improve! It'll help build the all round squad. I'm really looking forward to it.

That's nice of your niece to say. It's nice to have the positive feedback...mind me asking who she is?
We've had a few new people turn up the last 2 weeks so I don't know who this Tuam Glynnis Sourpuss is. I'm sure the clue is in there but I'm afraid I don't know half of the surnames!

Ok, where to start?!

We had 21 - 22 players for the match today!

We started the match with a...less experienced team I suppose, with 3 - 4 experienced players. And it showed. We conceded 3 goals in the first half. Frustrating to say the least as our midfield fell apart (I put my hands up, definitely not my best match!).

Second half, 10 changes and a fresh team. More experienced players with a few newbies in there. We pushed hard and scored a goal with 2 or 3 good chances that could, or should, have been taken. We got a free kick outside the box...and wow! What a free! Up and over the wall and down quickly into the bottom corner. The girl who scored deserved it! We had two balls come off the post, couldn't believe how unlucky we were!
They didn't know what hit them in the second half.

Had we the "usual" team for the majority of the match, there would have been no doubt we would have beaten them. They only got a slight sniff at goal in the second half.

These Cloonfad girls, well I doubt that that was their first match. I think some of them had played with Dunmore and they have had to have a had match before this one. They did really well though, good to see teams springing up and increasing the competition.
Best of luck to them in the future!!

Cloonfad 3 Tuam Celtic 2

Hearty? I doubt those Cloonfad girls have hearts, they spared us nothing in the physical department!

I think Moylough are looking for revenge in a return leg next week...
Glen Celtic have been in touch too.

We're playing Oranbay tomorrow on our own turf. Gonna be a tough but good challenge, especially if the heat sticks up.

Bring it on!

We drew 2 2 with the cup semi-finalists!

And we had a great chance of beating them with 2 or 3 chances to have goals before they saw our back line! We got a goal mid way through the first half when A. Bodkin got to the end of a free kick. But fair play to Oranbay, they replied with a goal straight from the kick off.
I can't remember if their second goal came in the first or the second half. It's all a blur when you're on the pitch. But late in to the second half, A. Bodkin got her second goal and her 4th in as many matches, when she took a shot from a tight-ish angle, it hit the goalkeepers legs and in.
Oranbay had another attack and almost got a goal but our goalie came out and blocked it well. She had a great game.
*Oh and I forgot to mention they missed a penalty!*

We all agree it was our best performance yet.

It was also good to have an "official" type of ref who blew for everything (it was frustrating but it was a lesson in what to expect).

It was worth the €21 I spent on buses to get down from Limerick for it!

Moylough are back for revenge on Friday evening in Tuam.

One thing learnt from last ngt is we are capable of playing in Galway League after only 3 mths . Also we had 18 of 32 registered players in attendance. Future looks good.......

Tuam play Oranbay tonight in Tuam.

I won't be there myself so I'm wishing them all the best of luck tonight. If we put up a good battle and show there is some consistency, then we're all good to go!

Major improvement on last weeks game with Moylough albeit Oranbay won 2_0 . Lot of people missing but a far better performance by all.

Quote:
Finally got our second win. If ye wanted to see the most physical game of ladies football, then this was the match to see. Cloonfad bowled us over in that department the last time we played them and we matched them, and some this time. They didn't know what hit them! Once again, the mighty Aoife Bodkin put both the goals in(6 goals in 7 matches for her! affraid ). Probably should have been more on the scoreboard seeing as I hit the target 3 times. Both goals came in the second half. The first one came from a low, firm cross across the face of the goal and Aoife getting to the end of it. I think the second one was in similar fashion but I can't remember.
We had a 3rd goal disallowed as it was supposed to be an indirect free kick. We didn't know that and the free taker took it straight on and into the bottom right corner from about 30 yards out, if not more!
3 mins from the end, Cloonfad got a consolation after a fine individual effort from their no. 8.

There was spirit and aggression in our performance tonight which deserved a win in itself. It's also our first win on home turf. Hopefully that turf will see some more.

On another note, Jimmy Bodkin resigned from his position as manager for personal reasons. Now I have been given quite some credit for getting the whole thing going but to be brutally honest, Jim got the whole thing steam rolling. I will be eternally grateful to him. I speak on behalf of myself and the whole team when I say that we wish him all the best in the future.

Peace out homies!

We didnt lose many at home either Mary , mostly draws............

Thanks for the above and i wish yourself and the team well in the future Mary. Hard work but in the majority a pleasure to be involved.
