Michael Byrne Cup
Thu Apr 17, 2008 10:53 pm by messi
west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

dara ryan, dara o neill and tommy walsh will be leaving west according to hearsay, vinny o connor and niall mcdonagh will be back after missing this season through work and study committments,so they will be as good as the 2 defenders that are on the way out, they need to replace dara ryan,if the rumours on new signings are true, west will be even a little stronger than last season but its early days yet the lads rumoured to be leaving mite even stay who knows.

Think gismo is on about the comings and goings at West not the crack in Athenry .
If I was the manager out in Athenry (I'm not ) I would clear out the players who have no "faith " in him .Thay have not put in the work into the club like Timmy has , just stirred the shit , they must feel like right planks now there little plan didn't work . Get more and more Athenry lads involved - playing football from the heart not the pocket ! Agree with you 100% del boy

niall mcdonagh was player of the year for west last season, big loss this season and vinny o connor has been one of west's top performers since he joined and he'll be a welcome addition back, the 2 lads supposedly on the way out gismo struggled to make the team at times,so west weren't 2 dependant on them so there cause won't be weakened by them departures if they happen,if they stay don't know what they'll do with all the players.

Nevr mind willy , if i were the players i would be trying to hold on to my spot on the west team . they are with the league champions and anymove to another junior club would be a majot downward step .Allright if a player wants to go and have a go at league of ireland . The rest have decided thay have there league medal , im happy with that now take it easy . this type of player are nogood to anyone , let them off to retirement homes . If the players were any good they would have confidence in there abilities to hold on to there places

rab will be with west next season, thats for certain, can't see dara o neill going down playing 2nd division,he can do that with west B if he likes.dara ryan will probably pack it in,any player who does leave west will be taken a step down unless they go to mervue(eircom)salthill A league or galway united.west will run away with it again next season,i think some people on this site are hoping west will lose 5-6 players because it's the only chance the rest of the teams will have to close the gap.
