west beat mervue B 2nite to qualify for the last 8,wasn't at the game,i believe west rested alot of players and were nearly caught on the hop by a mervue side who deserved something out of the game.west are now at home to either blues our mervue A in the last 8.

This rule is definitly one of the longest running rule that I can remember and is a great idea and has been in use for years . If you are selected to play for the oscar traynor it should be an honour , but some guys treat it with contempt and disrespect . I wouldnt bother ever calling up these two again not worth the space . One has already decided his peak will be junior soccer , settled for that at what 19 ? His loss .

Not much of a rule then. Both played yesterday - Walsh sent off for Hibs (wonder will he serve a suspension for that either?) and Mernagh scored for Athenry!!! No suspensions there lads but I suppose as I have already said it is the Galway FA running the show! What wankers.

A lotta experts on this forum. Tell me lads, what has the Galway FA got to do with the rules of the FAI Cup??? If a player gets an Oscar Traynor ban, it has as much relevance to the FAI Cup as Cannon Law has....geddit Ballhop

Q what has the galway fa got to do with the fai ? Believe it or not they are the local " branch " , ye can take branch as in mafia or like a union branch , neither or either .
Think about it , they are joined at the hip , who else but they Galway fa would have appointed Steve Staunton as manager . Who else would have let a 19 year old in a foreign country have to deal with a major , major crisis onhis own ??? ( S Ireland left to hang by Delaney , he was only a kid at the time ).
